Shocks
A search resulted in 21 pages of discussion but nothing definitive I could take away. Perhaps someone can offer some additional information for me... Looking to put new shocks on my 2500 Duramax 4x...

While they may have a lot of similarities they are NOT the same shock when it comes to ride. 5100's have a bit softer ride than the 4600's. Those who use their trucks as daily drivers may appreciate the 5100 ride over the 4600.
I have posted directly from Bilstein before that they are the EXACT same shock only the 5100 can be used up to a 2" lift. Did you do a side by side comparison with the same application?
Take my word for it or look it up and post the results.
Take my word for it I have owned both on the same truck. Imagine that... First hand experience. Yet, you seem hell bent on believing EVERYTHING you read :S
If one can be used for up to 2" longer application then they can not be EXACTLY the same. Can we agree on that??? Whatever is different about them results in a slightly softer ride on the 5100.
There are numerous reports of the same out there on various truck/offroad forums. Its not like I am making this stuff up.
