Shocks
A search resulted in 21 pages of discussion but nothing definitive I could take away. Perhaps someone can offer some additional information for me... Looking to put new shocks on my 2500 Duramax 4x...

I believe that air bags are just an additional spring. There is no control mechanism within them to dampen movement. 30 psi should show some lift and IMO is the only purpose for installing air bags. If the air bags keep the springs off the overload leaves, that might improve the ride. I use air bags to restore ride height, on my SRW F250, when pulling a travel trailer with 860lbs of tongue weight and about 200lbs in the bed. 30 PSI would actually lift it slightly above empty height and 23 PSI is about right.
The 4600's I installed did improve ride under most conditions. Certain local rough spots actually got harsher. I suspect that the stiffer valving can't react as fast on bumps spaced close together.
