Shopping- trailer suggestions?

Well, after a long break of not looking due to my husband losing his job, he is finally getting a new one and we are back to shopping. I seem to find everything that we are looking for rather easily except for the large dinette. Our little tiny 17 foot prowler had a GREAT dinette that made into a bed big enough for my husband and I. A double? The dinette was big enough for all 6 of us.
My husband is ready to find the trailer we need and make payments. He really doesn't want to "work around" the issue by adding an extender or anything. So I need some suggestions for light trailers that can sleep six with a large dinette.

Sorry....I meant a K1500 P/U. Still rare with the 6.5L though.

Our last trailer would have been perfect for you. It was a 2006 K-Z 25JQ and it fit ALL your specs. Dry weight was 4800 lbs, slept 6 (without even using the sofa and dinette). Here's the floorplan. We just sold it a few weeks ago for $9000.


So there ARE units out there with your specs. Probably just take some looking around.

When looking at used, if you smell anything like mold inside(I'm guessing it's that funny smell you experienced), there's bound to be water damage, leaks and rot. I wouldn't want to breathe it just for health reasons.

All of the suggestions above about shopping around are true. Try to be patient and find what you want. We found a 1995 that was VERY well cared for, no leaks, super clean and a great price. I’m towing with a K1500, but it has the 6.5L Turbo Diesel. Our TT is around 7K and tows without a problem.

There is a 2006 Roo at our local RV consignment lot for $10999. We really like it except that it doesn't have a large enough dinette for all of us. There is a 2004 Trail Cruiser (By R Vision, they went into bancruptcy? Should we avoid them?) Ihey are asking $8,300. It is a little small, but it has a GREAT dinette (the U shaped ones are big enough for us) and a nice double bed with a single bunk on top. The big issue with that one is that there is a funny smell in the trailer, like a wild cat peed in it. : )
There is a wanderer with three pop outs (tent?) with a nice dinette for sale in my town for only $6000, but it looks pretty hammered.
I wish my town weren't so small. Not a lot of inventory! I might have to drive to another town to shop.

The boys are fine to sleep 2+2. We have looked at the Roo and my younger boys love it! DH is not convinced.

Will the boys be sleeping together, 2+2? 5 beds under 5000 pounds dry is going to be difficult, even in a hybrid. Something like the Rockwood Roo 233S might be good. A used one, 2-3 years old should be had for about $10k.

Those Roo's look nice but I don't think the OP is going to find a new one anyone where near 10k and finding a used one might be tough. I do agree that would probably be a great way to go.
