Like I said earlier, I am running heavy with a 2 year newer version of your van.
Its highly capable and very stable.
I've owned and pulled trailers with everything from a mini truck to my one ton dually crew cab.
The minivan is just as capable of pulling within its ratings as anything else.
This particular van is FANTASTIC. The Pentastar is 285 HP of pure awesome. I can pull at any speed I want too. I choose to pull around 60 MPH.
This vehicle is a great platform for towing. All Pentastar vans come equipped with HD cooling including a transmission cooler, HD radiator, and an engine oil cooler.
Here is some key's though. You have to ensure that there is payload, axle, and tire rating left over once your family is loaded up. The bolt on receiver and the brake controller all take a little from payload. In other words, he needs to weigh and find out how the payload is looking.
With a good receiver, weight distribution hitch, sway control, and a good brake controller... coupled with proper load balance and you can tow comfortably.
Seriously, if one hand on the wheel while towing and holding my wife's hand with the other is "white knuckle" towing then life is good.
Thanks!
