I went from a 250 short bed to a 350 long bed. Yes it does look a little strange but works great. A number of people will talk about the center of gravity or balance point. It is not a problem if you pay attention. As was stated the COG is the same relative to the rear axle.
I have an 845 and the lack of storage does make the long bed look good.
Pay attention and go for it.
