Short queen mattress at CW

Just got a $100 give card for my b-day for CampingWorld. DW and I have been wanting to replace our short queen mattress. Was thinking of applying the gift card toward a new mattress from CW. Anyone have one from there and if so which one?

  • I would not purchase a mattress from CW I would look into like stated above someone like Original Mattress Factory or the online store mattressinsider.com who has all sizes of mattresses you would ever need for an RV.
  • We replaced the short queen in our Coachmen with a Zinus spring and foam bed-in-a-box, $180 from Amazon. Very comfy, far better than the factory mattress.

I extended the bed base to use a full-length queen. Best upgrade ever.
  • Look for RV Mattress on Overstock.com - comes in a compressed roll, which makes it easy to get it into the camper.
  • Run Forrest.
Never buy a mattress from a camping supply outfit. RV mattresses are Epically bad. Spend your money on lightable pink flamingos for your awning instead.
  • AND.....don't get hung up on the "short queen" requirement.
I searched for MONTHS for a reasonably priced "short queen" air mattress as a replacement for mine.
I finally gave up and decided to try a "standard" queen from WalMart.
It actually came up about 2 inches shorter than what the box said and it worked fine. For about $40, IIRC.

Point IS that a standard queen might work fine and likely can be had easier and cheaper.
  • Go to one of the many Original Mattress Stores in and around Orlando and Kissimmee. They will custom build any home quality mattress to your specific size. Being a conventional mattress store, they have all different types, softness, covering, etc. Your RV mattress should be the same quality and you should have the same choices as the mattress in your house.

Save your gift certificate for something RV related.
  • Use your CW gift card to splurge on something you would like and get an 8" memory foam layered mattress from Walmart about $250. We've been using ours for over 6 years now and love it. Get a queen and use a serrated knife to trim the foot to fit the space you have. We left ours a little longer than a short queen.
