Short vs. Long Bed F350 SRW

Very nice looking rig 2naEagle, that looks to be exactly what I want to do!

You can't be serious.... Looks are an opinion. IMO a short bed looks better unless is a regular cab truck. Then a long bed looks better. The other funny thing about your post is I've hauled 16' materials in my short bed. I'd be willing to bet my Mega Cab rides as good or better than your long bed and still turn a tighter radius too.

I looked at a short box when I bought my last F 350 because there was one sitting right next to my new truck and IMO that big crew cab and little bed just looks out of whack to me... If I'm spending that much it has to be for a truck I enjoy looking at. If you hauled 16' material with a short box that must mean I could haul 18' material ....or maybe 20' ...lol

I agree with you on wanting to drive a truck that looks good, that's one of the many reasons I have a standard bed. Like I said, looks are a matter of opinion. When it comes to hauling something, you imagination is the limiting factor not 1.5' of bed length. It's all in how you have your truck set up. Believe it or not but the company I bought my gutters from hauled them to my house from their shop 50 miles away. Longest one was 68' long. The delivered them on top of a short bed crew cab Chevy pick up.

I mean really, we could split hairs over 1.5 feet of bed length all day when it really comes down to what one likes because in reality if it needs to be hauled either truck can get it done with some imagination.

To say there's no other options but an 8' bed is really not true.

I almost bought a chassis crew cab, I would have had a 10' bed...the wife wouldn't go for that look and at the time there were none to be found with the princess interior she wanted. For me it was a win win situation, more truck and for less $$$

Sigh...I remember there was a time when I bought my vehicles without someone else's input.

They make beds longer than the standard 8' bed? Kewl, I'll take the long 10' bed thank you very much! Anything less than 8' is a short bed in this persons book!i do like the look of the 14' bed on my Navistar......188"WB turns tighter than ANY pickup I have had longer than 155"! Long wheel base is not always turning like an aircraft carrier!

I highly suggest comparing side by side. Do a satisfaction survey, that should help with your decision!

there's no contest, people who don't buy the B&W are only buying on price IMO and have not used one.

I absolutely love mine and do not regret spending the money on it.



for what its worth, I wouldn't hesitate to haul a 5er that would be 5-7ft longer and 2500-4000lbs heavier, my 34ft, 10k lb 5er is barely a workout for this new truck. When we say short bed, these aren't extended cab trucks with 5.5ft beds, they still have a long wheelbase because of the size of the cab and they are very stable and ride extremely well - if you've concerned about ride quality and stability with the 6.75ft bed VS the 8ft, don't be - the 8ft will simply offer more room for storage.

I never could understand the "going down hill not so much" saying. Is it pushing him down the hill? Getting sway?

Reese since 2001 and no issues yet. Long box dually for us. Never felt the 35 ft alpenlite ever pushed us around as some say. Friend with the same weight as us and a 2500 SB GMC has this issue. Of course it tows fine he says but going down hill not so much.
