That is true, but its also true Ford can void the truck warranty completely if the emissions is tampered with. This would not be a Magnusson-Moss "affected part" issue either. Ford has a very explicit exclusion in their warranty agreement. A volunteer department truck with no warranty coverage could end up being a very pretty yard ornament if the department can't pony up for expensive repairs should they occur.
Also I think the days are gone where you can just buy a simple programmer to fool the truck into running right with the "stuff" gone.
