Also, after purchase of a new unit, you would want a warranty on the roof. Much too easy for leaks to occur and you would have no recourse. One small leak can cause major delamination to sidewalls.
KZ uses the aluminum roofs on some of their Sportsman and Sportsman Classic trailers. Personally after reading all the stories about ripped or pealing rubber roofs I was glad that my cheap trailer came with an aluminum roof, anything that would puncture the aluminum would puncture any of the other materials and the aluminum undamaged will last for longer than I'll be RVing and I'm relatively young (38).
I do agree about walking away though.
