Shower enclosure

I was wondering about the bottom of the shower enclosure where it meets the tub. It not sealed so there is a small gap all around the tub. The enclosure is sealed everywhere else. Is this normal? It would seem to be a good water leak source. Should I seal it or leave it?
  • I was told by the manufacturer of a previous rig we had that this is normal and is designed to prevent condensation from being trapped between the shower enclosure and the outside wall of the trailer...so that it doesn't mold or rot.

There is a lip that goes up behind the enclosure that prevents water from leaking behind the shower wall.

    True.

The lip is about 1 - 1.5 inches high. Water would have to go uphill to get over that lip.
  • Just posted above with a similar problem. Our side wall goes from rv floor to ceiling. The tub lip is on the inside of that wall and is simply screwed to the paneling with a small piece of L trim and silicone to keep the water in the tub area. Bad design/ construction as ours not surprisingly leaks.
