Had the same type of whine in a suburban we bought with about 60,000 miles on it. Drove it for about another 80,000 miles and sold it with the same whine. The guy who bought it wanted it for his son who played hockey in school so he could haul friends and all of their (stinky) gear. They've put about another 40,000 on it - still has the whine and still going strong.
