Have a Tundra too and tow about 7200 lb trailer. Tows very nice. Lots of power, very good stability and excellent braking. Zero issues and over 65000 miles.

OHNO I bought the wossy!!! but then it is a daily driver 2014 Silverado V6/V4 only towing it does is to the scrap yard and trips to the VAMC appox 200 miles and gets 24.1 on the road and in about 15 miles of city driving. Tow our Redwood 38GK with a F350 dually and towing 62 to 67mph I get 9.1 to 11 mpg depending on the road condition and traffic. As stated before get what you like and fits your butt, you will be the driver and PAY the cost (all), not us. All have had their problems and all will have something happen in the next 500,000 miles. Some are just lemons some are jewels, others are what we hope and pray for. Just my thought and is worth less that you paid for it. My other work trucks are 3500 cutaway vans one with a 8.1 2006 the other 6.0 (2010) so I am not pulling 4 either, will make comparison to the Cummings engine truck, just do not have one to voice about, maybe later.

I have a 2010 Tundra with the 5.7 and LOVE it. The only downfall is low payload rating. All half ton trucks suffer from low payload though, so if you are looking at a half ton you need to pick your poison.

The biggest advantage with the Tundra for me was the engine. Toyota will put that 5.7 liter V8 in any trim level Tundra you want. I looked at the GMC twins with the big 6.2 V8 but you have to get pretty high in trim level (and price) to get that engine. I looked at the Ram with the 5.7 Hemi, but payload was much lower than the Tundra and I was still uneasy about Ram quality, especially with the bankruptcy issues. Ford's 5.4 was a solid engine, but uninspiring to me at the time.

The Tundra offered the best engine in the base package and respectable payload to meet my expected needs for 10 years. I tow about 4000 miles a year or less and the Tundra is used for other reasons the rest of the year. I couldn't justify the weight or cost of a 3/4 ton truck, nor did I have the NEED nor expected need for that big of a truck.

My next truck will require more payload, something the Tundra doesn't yet offer. I am very happy with my Tundra and have ZERO regrets. Plenty of power, feels stable when towing and gets decent mileage for a gas engine when towing (about 10 mpg).

Have a gmc sierra with 300,000 miles and still runs great. I would suggest a 09 and above Silverado or sierra with six speed half ton. Then again I am a chevy guy !!

Good to know. I haven't seen many Tundras towing trailers.

My 2007 Tundra pulls 6,200 lbs. quite well. It pulled our 2002 Sunline OK and that weighted in around 8K. I really wouldn't tow anything more than 8k with a Tundra as I think the truck will be overtaxed. If I were towing 8K or more, I would get a 3/4 ton truck for the added payload capacity.

But, I really do like the Tundra. I bought mine used in 2012 with only 20,000 miles on it and it was very well taken care of. It has over 60K on it now and it has been trouble free. The wiper blade connections are finnicky...much better to buy replacements from Toyota. I pland to keep it for a long time!

My Son has a 2014 Tundra and tows a large heavy fishing boat and other times he tows a 26 ft TT which is loaded down. He said it pulls like a dream, he travels all over the Sierras, and else where to fish and camp. No problems at all towing or other wise. He said the worst thing is the gas mileage, 10 to 12 towing and 15 to 16 empty on the Freeway at 75 to 80. He has put on over 40K miles this past year since he retired.

I don't think I can answer your question. First I have a duly, it's 3500, it's diesel, and I've never towed with anything else other than 3500's that are Chevys. All I can say is, I've got absolutely no problems towing anything! See my signature block below.
