Once again I wish there was a 'like' feature.
Thanks for all the responses.
colliehauler brings up a great point- taller tires.
Something else to keep in mind in my search.
As are torque flex axles.
I've had torsion bar suspension in my trucks for a combined 30 years with no issues. They certainly seem like they would avoid pogoing.
When I first got my Tioga I had 3 quick blowouts on tires that appeared to be fine. Now the first thing I inspect is the date stamp. I don't go much over 3 years, pay close attention to inflation and get D or E rated tires. One of my blowouts was in Yosemite where I had to drive miles to find a suitable pullout. I was fortunate it was one of the duallies or I would have had to buy a rim.
I'm getting the impression dual axle trailers disperse overall weight better and improve handling by not transferring that weight to the hitch. Even though I consider a weight distribution hitch a must I think it's a trade off I'm going to have to make as my wife and I trade driving duties and she's not keen on the idea of towing but realizes it fits our needs now. She has a saying: How hard can it be? Men do it.
