We quit using our scissor steps and just use a small folding plastic step stool (looks like a short step ladder with two steps) to get in and out of the camper. I added a bolt on step to the side of our boat trailer tongue and my wife steps on the step ladder then the boat trailer step and into the camper. It's not an ideal solution but it works for us.
