The availability of slide toppers was also a big factor in buying our last trailer. Toppers aren't a cure-all and they need to be cleaned every so often, but they keep the******off the top of the slides, they reduce heat, and keep most of the rain off as well.
I found that doing cleanup/maintenance on the tops of the slides as well as on the toppers was an "every 3d or 4th trip" event rather than every trip event without them.
