The hardware is black or the awning is black? If the awning is black wouldn't that increase the heat?
Everything is black except the roller tube and that is gray. Since there is a big gap between the slide roof and topper and the slide roof is white i am not too concerned about any additional heat being generated. Also, look at any motorhome out there that is not white. All of them have black awnings and slide toppers.
