Slide Floor Replacement - How to protect bottom exposed side

Okay, so the question remains, How do I fix mine without the darco? I think I have a handle on how to deal with the sides at the bottom, which is what created the problem to begin with. Just need an alternative to darco to protect the bottom of the floor with. My current darco is abraded around the perimeter so reusing it is not a good option.
