Slide lock security system

Has anyone heard of the Alta Slide Lock security system? It's an adjustable bar that is placed inside the TT wedged between the wall and the retracted slide. It runs alongside the upper part of the slide that is inside the TT, preventing the slide from accidentally opening while traveling. Reminds me of the concept of placing a bar in the track of a sliding glass door to prevent opening the door. I don't know how to post a link but found it on Dyers website.

  • The ones I had was pretty useless. The area it wedges between is where all the weather stripping is located. The rubber had a bit of an angle to it so the lock ends couldn't sit flush with the slide wall and would pop out. Couldn't tighten them either.
  • Only a concern (transit lock) IF MFG. recommends/provides them.

And IF used one should hang bright colored ribbon/flags from them and put a note on slideout control switch........"TRANSIT LOCK!!!!"

I thought about getting a slide lock in the past, but was always afraid of damaging the slide or RV wall if I forgot to remove it before starting to extend the slide.
