Slide operation making camper rock back and forth

I am known to be a bit of a worry hog. i have a 2014 Primetime Tracer..Purchased 11 months ago.. i have one month left in warranty. it has the Accuslide cable system. I notice that when i operate the slide it makes my camper rock back and forth. im just wondering if this is normal? I did spray slide seal spray on the seals and waxed the outside of the slide unit but it didnt seem to help much. I also noticed that when the slide is closed that the cables have some sag to them.. I will point out that I AM NOT a handy person. I seem to make things worse when i start to monkey with things, so i dont want to start adjusting stuff if really nothing wrong.. the unit seems nice and tight when its closed..no issues there.. just the vibration i get when opening and closing.
I am asking if this is normal because according to the accuslide site it says that the slide will run nice and smooth when its correct.. My camper is 2 hours away from my dealer.. I paid someone good money to tow this for me to my seasonal site two weeks ago and would hate to pay more money to have them tow it back to dealer only for them to say im crazy..LOL.. i called the shop and they said vibration is normal.. i just want to know if others have experienced this first before i stop worrying..like i said, only one month left in my warranty..thanks for reading and helping..
  • Yeah, if you don't have the stabilizers properly tensioned, it sure will rock. I always put the stabilizers down until they made firm contact then another half crank or so with a re-adjust after the slide went out. You can also make sure that your slide mechanism is greased properly and any slide points lubed.
  • As ah64id mentioned, you can go a little more snug on the stabilizers. What the manual means is to not use them to level or change a tire. I crank mine down till I get about 1/2" of lift on the trailer, maybe a little less.
  • You need to go a little tighter on the stabilizing jacks, that is probably why you get the movement.
  • actually goducks, thats a seperate question i may ask this board. i just bring my stabalizer jacks down far enough to touch the wood blocks.. i dont really tighten them.. the owners manual says not to use them to lift up the frame..i notice that if i even snug it a little bit the frame lifts up a bit, so i dont snug them... am i doing this wrong? i just get it to touch the wood and then maybe turn it 1/2 inch or so...but if i try to snug it even a little bit it will start to lift the frame/bumber a bit....maybe this is why i have some issues? maybe this is another question for another day???
  • I'm guessing that your jacks are down and snugged up real tight since you're set up at a seasonal site. I know on our 5'er, even with just a dinette slide it will wiggle the 5'er a little if I don't have the jacks down. Maybe you need to tighten the jacks tighter.
  • i have the 2670, the slide consist of sofa and dinette.. and yes. this is my first slideout..first camper actually..
  • Don't know which model of Tracer you have.......but I am going to assume that yours has the stove/microwave/sink and sofa in the slide-out???

When you set up your trailer......it is level (side/side--front/back) and that stabilizers are down and tight???

Slides are big moving boxes that have no stability until they are fully extended/retracted. During operation they are unstable as they have to transition overcenter both directions.

Does it go out evenly.....both sides moving at same rate?
Does it move smoothly vs jerking/stuttering?

    Is this your FIRST slideout?

After 7 yrs I still shake my head in wonder as ours go in/out :B
  • maybe im overblowing the rocking a bit... it does shake enough though that the little vent thingy for the microwave opens and closes while i operate slide.
  • We've never had a slide that rocked the trailer....you can feel the movement of the slide, but just what we'd expect to be normal. Are you sure that your trailer is absolutely level?? That would be the first place I'd start, since you've already done the lube thing. Not familiar with that brand, but if your trailer is really level, I would pass on the dealer and call the manufacturer directly.
