Slide out awning

Recently bought a new TT and it is my first experience witha slide out. Used it Memorial Day weekend and had to retract the slide out in the rain. The rain ran off the top wetting the floor inside of the camper. Discussed options with the dealer service dept and all he suggested was a slide out awning. For a 90" slide out the price was $800.00. Seems like a lot of money to me.... Is that reasonable? Do I need it! Are there other less expensive options? Having just bought the unit and planning on driving from Florida to Colorado and back next month the $800 is a bit oppressive. Thank you!
  • I thought of an awning to keep leaves, rain and other junk off the slide, especially in the fall.

When our slide is out, we have to tuck the rubber seal behind the slide's rain gutter or the rain runs down the seal into the TT.

As you noted the awning is expensive, and the slide should not leak. I would find the point of the leak first.

We are still thinking on the slide awning.
  • Your going to get a ton of opinions on this subject. IMHO they are worth every penny.
