Slide out depths

I've noticed that a lot of trailers and others have slide outs that are not too deep. Mine seems huge in comparison to some of these. I guess the deeper the heavier and more expensive. Are manufacturers going to the less deep slide outs or is this just a variation in the industry?? Just something I noticed, nice to be out long enough to notice something:B
