Slide out or no

Slide problems are sometimes mentioned here. But no more so than plumbing issues, waste tank issues, water leaks, appliance issues, propane issues, etc. Probably even less so. For the most part slides are very reliable. And the extra room, especially for that many people and pets, are certainly worth more than the slight possibility you may have slide problems. IMHO.

While I have had two slideout floors go bad I think it's worth it for the room.

IMHO, the answer to your question depends on how you plan to use your TT. For us, the primary use was long, cross-country trips, so we opted to forgo a slide to save weight and preclude mechanical issues, etc. Our TT is also 101" wide, so there is plenty of space even without any slides.

Your needs depend on what you envision doing with your trailer, where and for how long. Good luck!!

I recommend getting the slide. In my opinion the extra interior space is well worth any risk. Also consider that the stories you hear are based on those who have had problems, but there are many many more who have never had a problem and so had no reason to comment. For the record, I have a camper with a Schwintec slide. In five years it has never failed to operate properly. I did have some damage to the under side of the slide because of a malfunctioning roller. I repaired the roller and floor and have had no other issues.

Generally a TT with a slide-out will weigh more, some time a lot more. Make sure you are good on TV payload for the added tongue weight.

Knowing that, I would go slide so long as the brand doesn't have a lot of complaints about it. The extra space is nice.

First camper had no slide, curent one does. Upgraded after 1 season and the boys were still small. Never had a slide problem. 6 years approx.

I have 3 slides and we LOVE the extra room and storage. Well worth it in my opinion.

Worth it from two standpoints: your own comfort when camping, AND resale value when you want to get something else. (Which you likely will, at some point.)

I towed my TT from Utah to the East coast and back. I purposely looked for a TT without a slide. I liked the idea of the structural integrity of the "single box" and one less thing to go wrong.

Slides can be troublesome as mentioned-but the trade off is the extra space.

Get one with the slideout. I'll bet a million bucks that slideout issue percentages are way down on the list of problems. Have had 5 different trailers and never had problems with any of them. Was in a camping club with many slideout trailers and none of them had slideout issues in those 10 years.
