Our current trailer is the first we've owned with a slide. Personally I'd be just as happy to not have a slide and therefore any potential issues with leakage or the slide mechanism even though there's no question that even a small sofa slide like we have really opens up the camper interior. The effect may be more pronounced in the smaller 20' trailer we have now as we never really missed not having a slide in our previous triple bunk bed KZ Spree which was another 4' longer. Now that we tend to stick closer to home having a slide problem isn't nearly a concern as it was a few years ago where we traveled often and could easily find ourselves 1000+ miles from home. Contrary to what some slide affectionados would have you believe slide failures do happen, sooner or later, so although I've not yet had any issues in 3 yrs with ours I do wonder every time I hit the slide switch whether this will be that one time when it doesn't work as it should. :(
