I didn't actually need it with my 2' slide outs, and I have just picked up my 2014 JayFlight, so haven't even had it out camping yet.
This was more just trying to find out I did need them for my first camping trip since I did have a friend who has them on his 2012 Springdale and recommended them when he was checking out my new trailer.
Now go back to your friend and inform him WHY NOT to use them.

Slides are self supporting
Damage can occur to slide/trailer walls from upward pressure
