slide out stabilizers

Two replies to the link I posted.

1-Just read my manual and it suggest that if you staying for an extended period to use supports under slide out. I to was worried especially after reading some posts. I just check them every so often make sure it is not "lifting" the slide but just supporting it. (manual thinks 2 weeks is extended stay)

2-ALTHOUGH I DONT KNOW IF THIS PICTURE IS DOCTERED OR NOT I DO WORK FOR A WELL KNOWN DEALERSHIP AND HAVE ACTUALLY WITNESSED THIS TYPE OF DAMAGE SO I KNOW IT IS POSSIBLE!

I just don't get the nay sayers...Never used them but argue against them. If you haven't used something how can you be so against it?

Is there anyone here who has actually used them and they have caused damage? If not, I just don't get it.... A total lack of experience.

Yeah lots of really uneducated statements about the product and what its for and why their still sold. Lots of new folks I guess making guessing statements.
Early tip outs/slide outs weren't powered and were held (helped)in place with stabilizers furnished by the trailer mfg or the owner could buy his own. I didn't like the stabilizers furnished by my trailer mfg so I bought a set from my local mobilehome/RV parts store.

I wouldn't use them on a modern powered slideout that keeps the slide out pushed up against the opening.

What is your experience using slide out supports, past or present?

How many items does Camping World or E-Trailer sell that will harm your RV if used properly?

I'm sorry, but even a casual observer can plainly see that the image above is severly doctored.

Slideout stabilizers were popular when RV manufacturers first started making slideouts available. Technology has made their use unnecessary. Some posters may have TT's that are old enough to not have this technology that newer RV's use in the construction of slideout systems. If your slideout is sagging and in need of support, it most likely needs to be repaired. If manufacturers intended for their customers to use these devices, and actually required their use, they would have to be included when the unit was purchased. A lot of companies who sell RV equipment would be happy to relieve you of your money, but in case the image above causes concern, the best bet would be to contact the manufacturer directly - by phone, so you don't get any internet hoopla :P

Is it based on actual experience, if so where are they?I do have questions. I assume your a bird hunter, if someone asked what guage/shot size/choke type to use on Dove/Pheasant/Duck and Turkey you could and would answer based on what you actually used not on what you read.. Why is this different?

I would never use slide stabilizers with the electric stabilizers that come on some RVs, never because they are prone to bending and moving. (That is based on my actual use of them).

I would and do use slide stabilizers with corner/screw jacks rated at 6500 lbs each (That also is based on my actual use of them).

A flat tire will not move your trailer at all if the corner screw jacks are properly set (also based on having had a flat tire with the slide stabilizer jacks down and corner screw jacks properly set). Nothing happened, the level of the trailer did not change.

For fun, if you need any help choosing proper shot/choke or guage for dove/pheasant/duck or turkey hunting, pm me and I'll tell you what I used actually doing it.:B

Some of you guys are funny. Never used a product but you feel your qualified to answer questions about a product that you have never used based only on what you have read on the internet... Ya, that's funny.

Camping world owned by this forums founders has several different types of slide out stabilizers for sale. So are you nay sayers without actual experience with slide stabilizers saying Good Sam/Camping World is selling items that will damage your RV?

Of course there not.

How in the world anyone without any experience at all on a product can comment without hands on, just amazed me.

Don't use them they can cause damage your slide & void your warranty. They are a throwback to early slide outs.

Repeat after me... It can't happen to me!:@
