Not a dumb question at all. At our seasonal site, lots of trailers have supports under the slides. Our Jayco Bungalow has 4 slides. Two of them hold the bunk beds the kids sleep on. When they move around on the bed or jump out of bed, etc., we can feel the camper rocking. Ours stays year 'round at our seasonal site and is raised off the wheels. The only rocking we feel now is from the slides.
I wouldn't want to chance damaging the slides by using slide supports. We do not leave our slides out when we leave at the end of the season and I wouldn't want to find out a few hours before we leave that the slides can't move. At our seasonal site, everyone that uses slide supports leave their slides out year 'round.
If you really can't stand the rocking that the slides cause and are willing to accept the potential risk of damage to the slide, then slide supports might be worth it to you.
