The "track on the outside top and bottom" is the Schwintek system. This system works fine for small slides, like in a bedroom. It's terrible for super-slides and full-wall slides. I had mine fully replaced under warranty at the ORV factory, and after my year, ORV started transitioning away from it for large slides. I'm currently stuck with another failure, that again requires new racks and and a new pinion shaft, which requires pulling the entire 14'x 3.5' slideout.
