^^^ This. If you don't like the smaller option tank, don't buy a truck with one in it.
My 26 gallon tank lasts for 260 miles while towing, about 4 hours. That's enough for me. I usually don't go more than 3 hours between stops. I just keep myself informed on where the fuel stations are. I do carry at least 2.5 gallons extra when traveling.
