Small Microwave

My Alpenlite Cimarron 835 came with a small shelf, but no microwave. Unfortunately the space available for a microwave is only 9 3/4" tall and I have yet to find a microwave under 11 1/2" tall.

Anyone know of a micro-microwave oven? Depth and width are not an issue, but I just cannot find one under that restrictive 9 3/4" tall
  • At a recent RV show, I saw a Contoure microwave that was smaller than our GE. The GE was the smallest I could find when I was looking for something that would fit in our Northern Lite. So you might try Googling Contoure and see what you can find.
  • I did not have a place for a Microwave so I mounted a cheap, medium size MW under my cabinets. I did have to install a cross brace in the cabinet to attach the lid to the underside of the cabinet.

I mounted the lid first, then attached the MW to the lid.

Many MW mfg's are now using Inverters to power the MW's. Much lighter 1/2 the weight but they are not Smaller packages. Guess they need to run out of transformers before they begin to put Inverters in the smaller MW's.

  • Not knowing the exact layout parameters of your kitchen area layout, but is it possible to alter/ lower the shelf to get a more normal size MW in there?
  • Might try thrift stores if you have them in your area.
wife found one for her classroom that was small.

Go to a local RV dealership or camping store.

They all have a huge RV parts book that you can order everything related to and made just for RV's that you will 'not' find in the big box hardware stores or Walmart.

I have seen the small RV micro's available thru the camping store RV parts books.
  • In my 1999 class B, I have a 2004 Tappan TM5030W microwave that measures 17.5" wide, 8.875" high, and 12" deep - .5 cu ft. The first time we went camping in the B (new to us as of October 2014), the microwave didn't work. I drove myself crazy trying to find a replacement and I could not. So, I took the faulty microwave to an appliance repair place. They could not guarantee that they could fix it. I then took it to an electronics repair place and they fixed it. I have no idea what I will do when it can no longer be fixed.

Even this one is too big for the microwave hole I have!

Some dimensions provided are inside dimensions and some are outside dimensions - I actually ordered a different one from WalMart and the inside would fit, but the outside wouldn't!
