They make cable chains for all vehicles now. Most states approve them. I carry bus cable chains for my 22k GVWR MH.
BTW. Caltrans says that cable chains are legal on semi trucks and trailers per 605 CVC BUT, travel can be restricted if conditions are bad. Probably because many states totally permit them as a substitute for link chains. Cable chains would be more practical in CA because they are lighter, require less clearance and especially in CA if there is an 1/8 inch of snow they usually reqire chains. The cable chains are much easier to install..
