You know, if you did call the police it would go down in one of two ways:
1. They would just shake their head and chuckle. In this case you wasted your time, their time, and the guy's time.
2. They would make life miserable for the guy. In this case you've just made an old man's life miserable for a momentary lapse of judgement which did limited harm.
