Make a police report, and take pictures first. Then Bondo, sand and paint before you install the awning.
If this is the first incident with your neighbor the police will have a talk with him and hopefully that will be the end of it.

i would agree this route. that way its posted with the police. and they have the possible suspect. in this day and age its more of a CYA type of move. i use to think it was a pssy WAY OUT. but after getting my fence tagged 8 times i have had enough.
the perp who would come by and admire his work silently came by when the cops were there and the cops layed out what was going to happen to him or her when they caught em. then he looked at the kid and from what i was told later the cop knew it was him. i guess each tagger has his or her own signature.
so yea. do it safe and legal.

I have used Marine Tex epoxy with great results on my old popup. Worth checking into.

the only fiberglass repair that you could do yourself and look OK would be to use white bondo and smooth it out. sort of like that fake vent idea myself.

I'm not familiar with sikaflex, but I am familiar with fiberglass repair, and I think I'd go for epoxy bumper repair resin from the auto parts store. Then cover it with a shot of matching touchup paint.
