So, we decided to keep our truck camper

... and stay on the TC Forum

This is where all of the action is...

along with truck camper owners being the best...

Actually.... we have owned truck campers since 1969... and we'd never consider downgrading to anything.

So?

How about you?

  • My 1969 Avion C-11 has been in the family since new. I also have a 34' Avion triple axle trailer that rarely gets used. I won't part with either one of them. The 69 gets used several times every year since 2012/2013. It sat outside, unused, for 3 decades.

I'm with you. Right now, it's me, my wife, and our almost 3 year old daughter. My wife is pregnant with #2 right now, so, it would seem we have a few more years with the truck and camper combo, but eventually, I'd love to upgrade to a 4x4 sportsmobile.... I see sprinter is now offering 4x4 conversions through some manufacturers.. I'd love a 4x4 sprinter sportsmobile with a pop up!
  • We are holding on to our TC at the moment. It was sure nice at Yellowstone to have the flexibility to move easily each night and park at the pullouts. If I was going to stay in one place for a long time, I'd probably get a fiver.

Have you looked at some of the triple slide TCs? You could hold a barn dance inside some of them.

That's true in my case as well but, the way I look at it, the kids should be sleeping outside anyway! lol

  • Glad your sticking with the TC Chet.

Longer term I was considering trading in for a 7.5 ton gross (4.4 ton payload) large Mercedes Vario 4x4 van which I could convert into a camper. Commercial truck axles, brakes, engine etc. Rare vehicles to find in 4x4 form, but I did see one for sale recently.

However, increasingly strict weight restrictions in the sort of places we would like to visit and new low-emission zones springing up all over Europe restricting diesel trucks to modern computer controlled low-emission engines have made us re-think.

So we are also sticking with our current combination for the foreseeable future.

    Steve.
