I used to get 17 with our Fleetwood Bayside pop up behind our 4wd Pilot, but it was probably a bit heavier than your Sun Valley.
However, overall I'm much happier getting poorer mileage with my current setup. Tows easier, a lot more comfortable, longer camping season, far easier setup/teardown on travel days, more versatile, etc. We went with a pop up initially because we lacked a proper tow vehicle and a space to park a hard sided trailer. Once those issues were addressed, there was no looking back.
