Hey folks,
Planning on a trip up to Homer, Alaska from Southern California via Calgary. I went from SoCal to Halifax (and back) this past summer.
Some quick questions:
- Are there improved campgrounds along the route or best to boondock?
- Best mosquito strategy.
- Any "must see" stops along the route?
- What's the longest distance between diesel fuel stops?
- I'm ok eating at restaurants along the way, but want to also make sure that we cook onboard to maximize the use of the camper.
Any links to stories are always helpful. Anyone else going? :-D Planning on 1-30 June.

Read the TCTR postings right in this very forum, many good stories of the journeys into Canada and Alaska.
If your a member of COSTCO, many of them sell diesel fuel (Costco Diesel)
It will be the cheapest price wise, we paid 2.99/ gallon at the Anchorage,AK store.
Many Walmart's have banned overnight parking in Alaska, all three stores in Anchorage have, while the Walmart in Fairbanks will let you stay forever.
Finding a place to sleep the night away usual isn't a problem in either Canada or Alaska.
