I went to the dealer two days ago and talked with the service manager. Indeed, with the amount of damage to the roof structure and side wall, the unit's repair costs will far outweight the replacement cost, so it will be totaled. I'm honestly grateful for that as I didn't want to deal with the issues that could be present for years to come, even if they were able to fix the roof and sidewall properly.
So at this point the adjuster is apparently aware of that reality due to an estimate being sent from the dealer. The adjuster asked me to send any comp data I could find if I desired, so I did what I could. I couldn't find a single used unit like mine for sale on the web, so I sent some info from some 2014s I found as well as some 2013 units that had been sold, figuring he could contact the dealers to see when they sold and for how much if he desired. I also sent the blue book listing and then told him what I feel is a fair price for it. Hopefully, he'll look at my valuation, which I believe is fair, and work on making that happen, or at least close.
We're going to go shopping this week and visit some local dealers to begin the process of finding a replacement. I won't buy anything till I know our damaged unit is a done deal, but I would like to look at a few units we've found online and maybe just put a deposit on one for now.
So that's the scoop from here to this point. Most frustrating thing is just dealing with the dealership and adjuster, playing the waiting game for them to do what they need to do to keep the process moving towards an end. Just hopeful that when it's all said and done, we have a nice travel trailer again to do some camping this summer...soon! I also have decided that given I have to park my trailer north/south, I am going to anchor it down on the west side. I've got some screw type ground anchors that I can strap to, just to hopefully avoid this ever happening again!
