There are DC - DC chargers that will fully charge the house batteries even if the voltage into the charger is 10V or less. They do this by up conversion, but this will draw more amps, leading to further voltage drop in the wiring so it will not help in the usual truck/camper case (charge wiring too small).
I looked at the DuoCharge and don't think this is the best solution.
A DC-DC charger or a DC step up/boost is the best soultion. You are correct, larger cables (12AWG or 10AWG) ARE required.
