Unless your planning on running an AC unit (and only a few are compatible with a 2000W generator) you don't need a 2000W generator. We have a 1000W Yamaha. The "Champion" inverter models are (on paper) as quiet and I've seen inexpensive Chinese knock-offs for less than $500.
The older campers may only have room for a single Type #24 or #27 in the "official location" however in front of the passenger side wheel well there's room to stuff a few more - you'll just have to wire them into your camper.
I started with 1 type 24, swapped to a #27 then added another in a wheel well and finally added a 100W solar panel. When the panel failed I replaced it with a 1000W generator. I don't have THAT camper anymore but still have the Yamaha.
