I think the ratchet strap idea is what will end up happening. I can't quite envision how this would work. You hook the strap in the bed, run it over the bedrail, and out to the camper anchor? Seems like there's be quite a bend in the strap and it would be difficult to work the ratchet.
I used ratchet straps before too but that was an old 8' pop-up camper. I was hauling it on a utility body truck and so "normal" tie downs wouldn't work.
