I can't quite envision how this would work. You hook the strap in the bed, run it over the bedrail, and out to the camper anchor?
The last time I did it I ran the front strap around the bed to an anchor point on the frame and the rear to about anything sturdy and handy.Once I just ran the rear to the front bed pocket on both sides so it would not slide backwards.I ran it that way for quite a while even on a trip to the mountains right after I bought it..Never a problem but I did do it right shortly after.
The straps these days are rated so high,I would not worry about it much for temporary use.
