Some advice on selling...

SOLD! Thanks for the suggestions, we had already followed most of them. What seemed to work was moving it in our yard where it was much more visible. We had it for sale with a sign in the front yard that I guess most people passing by ignored. Move the camper nearer the sign (we live on a corner lot) and we had a number of folks stop to look.

Also, we did get a fair price for it, a good deal for both of us.

Even after being on the forum for about 8 years I made the mistake of posting with too much info on selling our Rockwood...the Mod deleted it. I knew better but just had a brain freeze, so you're not alone. We used Craigslist for both our ROO HTT and our Rockwood TT. Take all the personal items out - pictures, pillows, anything you don't intend to leave in it as part of the sale. CLEAN! Even in the pix, little dirty areas and smudges will show up. Take lots of pictures and include every area. Anything you feel it is a real positive, make sure you include that. Don't include family in the pix. Do include a few, 2 or 3, at a really great campsite. With CL you'll get quite an assortment of loonies responding....ignore them and DO NOT use your personal email or any personal info when replying. Only when the time comes that you feel you have a truly interested and able-to-buy prospect should you give out your location. Some have suggested a meeting place away from your home, like very near the police dept or fire dept for extra security...good point. CL is good, but you really have to be on alert. Good luck.

I like the title to include the year amd model number. In the description include as much information about the layout and any extras. Good quality photos are important.

I think Gdetrailer might not know that on Craigslist, viewers only see the first picture. If they want to see more they have to click on thumbnails. So nobody is going to be overwhelmed by too many pictures.

Well, I have seen some S&B house ads that have like 35 pictures. More than 20 might be excessive. And 4 might be the minimum -- 2 out, 2 in.

I had a brief career as an online merchant using E Bay and Craigslist, primarily. I found that the best pictures win overall. If you can make your ad pictures just a bit more professional than the usual cell phone pictures or the fella' that thinks he doesn't need to clean up the background, you'll do well. Lighting is another thing that makes small items or closeups that much better.

My record sale was a Gucci eyeglass case that sold in under 10 seconds from listing. I positioned the eyeglass case on a dark velvet background and positioned a red rose beside it. It was like fishing with leeches for walleyes, they just can't resist the presentation.

Like everyone has said pictures. All sides outside and views from inside. If you can find a picture of the floor plan that is nice as well. Be detailed in the title and make model and year. Also if you can add size of furnace, AC, fridge, propane tanks, and water tank sizes (fresh,gray, and black). If it has a generator add make and model along with a picture of the unit and how many hours. How old batteries and tires are is another nice thing. Can people look up a lot of that info on their own yes... but face it lots of people are lazy and if you can put that info in there it is easier for them.

Before you take pictures make sure its clean inside and out. Make sure all the trailer lights work (blinker, brakes). If someone does come to look at it be sure you can at least put power to the unit so that they can see that everything works.

I ignore any for sale post on Craigs list or where ever if they don't have pics. If they wont put that little effort into selling it then they probably put a similar amount of effort into everything they do. And frankly, I don't wan t to waste my time trying to figure out if it's a good deal on descriptions alone, which are generally misleading.

I agree on hype but I want lots of pictures, they just should make sense. I see many adds with five photos of the outside and still not show whether there is a ladder on the back. Be purposeful on photos. No inside photos and I'll skip over. Some inside, I might ask for something specific.

You need to decide if you want to cast a large net to sell quickly but deal with emails from non-serious buyers, or wait for that one buyer serious enough to overlook a poorly done ad. I think yoru post here implies you don't want the latter.
