Went home for lunch today and heard intermittent beeps coming from my TT. This has happened before and of course it was the low battery alarm on the smoke alarm. I came to the storage lot I used to have it parked at this past winter, and heard the same beeps, so I took out the battery and no more beeping.Today was a little different. I removed the battery from the smoke detector and turned to leave and before I could get out of the door - BEEP! I thought that was funny as I didn't think these ran off the TT's power, so I shut of the breaker on my 30 amp service and waited. Not too much later - BEEP! But the difference is, while it was parked in storage, the battery was out - it's in and connected now.So I looked at the CO2 dector and it was still blinking. It is under the dinette, so I tried to remove the cover and could not - not even sure it comes off. I did think that this ran on the TT's power - maybe it still was as I stated before, I have the battery connected. Could not read the manual as I had to get back to work. I could not see the writing on the front as it was low light and I'm to old to read small print without glasses.Does the CO2 detector use a 9V battery or does it run on the TT's power? If no battery, why would it be beeping? Propane is off. Have not had to mess with it, but have replaced the smoke dector battery several times. Its a newer model - 2012 Coleman, I'm sure that was obvious... Will take a closer look when I return this afternoon, but it was on my mind. Thanks...

Could be the propane detector which runs off the 12volt camper battery. If the voltage is low it beeps.

From your description of where the detector is located...under dinette.....sounds like a LP Detector. And those are hardwired to battery and will BEEP if battery voltage is low. CO2 is Carbon Dioxide (what you exhale)CO is Carbon Monoxide......product of combustion which is another detector and usually mounted up higher. Some are also hardwired to battery but most have their own batteries like smoke detectors.

We've had this in the middle of the night and was the CO detector both times it's happened. They are hard wired into the camper's power. Not fun, and pricey to replace, but worth it.

My charger bit the dust in December, and I never replaced it.But - I have it plugged in - shopuldn't the battery be bypassed when plugged in?

The battery is never "bypassed" if 120V is available to the converter. The converter will be charging the battery. It sounds like you have either a battery problem, a converter problem, or a connection problem.

I think you guys are right - it did say LP on it - Also, I think I meant to say Carbon Monoxide dector.

My battery could be low, but I thought it would be charged by the fact that I'm plugged in to 30 amp shore power. My charger bit the dust in December, and I never replaced it.

But - I have it plugged in - shopuldn't the battery be bypassed when plugged in?

Those detectors are wired to the battery NOT to the converter DC panel.
IF your 'charger' bit the dust in DEC. then how are you maintaining/recharging battery?

I've had 3 campers. I always keep my TT's plugged into shore power all the time... but ... there have been a few exceptions when I've forgotten to plug them in, especially in the winter when shoveling snow or snow plowing the drive where the cord crosses. Anyway, bottom line is, I have on occasion allowed my TTs house battery go without charging, and when the battery gets so low, the converter inside (the main electric panel) in all 3 campers beeps! The firs time this happened, it took forever to figure it out. Plugged shore power back in and it quit. It's possible the occasional beep is because your house battery is low and your converter is trying to let you know.

Separate charger? If no charger, no battery charging.

They will continue to beep, it's a 'low voltage' alert. Voltage drops they beep. your battery is going dead because you don't have a converter. BTW: your fridge will be dead soon too, along with you AC, because the thermostats on both need 12 volt to work. :W

You said your charger died and you never replaced it. If this is still the case your trailer battery is drained and that is why the detector is beeping.

If your trailer battery is sitting discharged it is slowly destroying itself. You need to get it charged back up as soon as possible. Do you have a battery charger at home that you can plug in at the trailer? Once it's fully charged you need to either disconnect it or fix the charger to keep it full.
