Never used anything but the x chocks when I had a trailer. They worked well to keep the trailer from rocking back and forth better than a wedge chock.
Not sure what the conversation about hooking unhooking and not using x chocks was about. I just leveled it side to side, x chocked it, and unhooked, then leveled front to back.
