My understanding is that the gears in the rear differential need to burnish to each other. This creates more heat than usual. Thus, no towing for 500 miles, because that creates even more heat. Then when towing, because of more load, the gears touch at a different place on the gear tooth, and have to burnish again. Thus 50 mph limit for the first 500 miles towing.

The physical owners manual I got only has 240 pages and it's not anywhere in there. Several places in the book referred me to the DVD. Is that where I could find it? I thought the towing section in the book seemed pretty light/short.
Also, for those of you who tow with this truck, what settings on the brake controller do you find work best?
