We haven't taken that course of action, but there are reasons why a park would. The biggest is likely site keeping issues. Since Truck Campers have limited interior space and virtually no exterior storage, when a TC arrives they often move items out temporary storage in the camper to the site. This is often several plastic storage tubs, a couple of folding chairs and all the other bric-a-brac people have. Not everyone thinks it is necessary to keep that outside storage neat and tidy and stuff becomes strewn all over the site.
Also, many Truck Campers wish to remove the camper from the truck during their stay. We do not allow that, and have on occasion received sharp resistance to following that rule. It would not be out of the question for the park in question to have been pushed too hard one too many times.
Finally, we have also found that many Truck Campers feel they should pay a much lower fee for some reason. Often to the point of being very demanding. We really don't care that they take up only half of the allotted pad. Don't care they might use a couple of gallons less water, a few kilowatts less of electricity or don't have a television to connect to the cable. To us a site is a site is a site.
For us, the truck camper market is a tiny slice of our pie. So small in fact, we don't feel the need take any additional action, pro or con. But if a park was having difficulties with truck campers I can also see where a complete ban wouldn't materially effect a park's bottom line making such a decision easier.
Great response. Seriously. There is always another side of the coin, and often, we humans just don't want to see it because we don't like it, not that it doesn't have merit.
