With a new Trailer I have a common problem of bikes. We like to have them, but where to stow them is the question? I immediately gravitated to the rear of the trailer to install a rack off of the bumper, but I see a lot of negative posts on the idea. I have a spare tire mounted to the back wall of TT and am wondering if attaching a rack to this is advisable? I have not looked at how strong the attachment is. Wondering if is even worth a look?

I would worry more about mounting to back wall than to the bumper.if you bend the bumper it's not as bad as pulling the back wall out.

From what I have read, the metal the bumper is made of is so thin, it will actually rip under the stress. The weld is still in place and the bumper peels off like a beer can.I put the 4 square reinforcing brackets on mine, and then used the bike rack that has 4 separate mounts ( 2 at each side of the back of the trailer ).S jumped up and down on each one as hard as I could, and I'm 225, no problems. The spare tire weighs more than my bikes but the bike rack sits too low for my taste. Also I would prefer to tie them so the they did not rock around the post. I had plan to put the spare tire in the bed and clamp the bike rack to the spare tire post but as I said the bike tires would be too low to the ground.I recently ordered a front hitch for the TV, it solves my second concern. I can see them if something goes wrong.

You also know that most of the bike racks, that plug into a receiver, are not rated for rv use ? On the truck it should be fine, but on the rear of a trailer, they fall apart.Way too much bouncing.
