When I buy a new vehicle, I always read the owner's manual to be sure I know the maintenance requirements. In 2006, I bought a new Chevy Malibu for my mother-in-law (wow, what a nice guy). The owner's manual said nothing about fuel filter replacement. I went to the Chevy dealer service department with book in hand to ask about it. The service rep said it has a lifetime filter located in the tank and it never needs to be changed. It still runs great after 9 years, but I don't feel good about it.
