I am still hesitant about the foam pockets because I fear the foam edge exposed between the wall and speaker could act like a sponge and soak winter into the junction it is trying to protect.
I really would like to find something shaped like a pie plate but with a flat flange, made of plastic, that would fit the bill perfectly. I am as leery with speaker pockets marked "waterproof" as I am with speakers being "waterproof".
some of my Fear comes from the fact I also own an 2011 Open Range 5er that instead of using putty they used foam double sided tape to install all the trim over any siding joints. It leaks worse than any RV I have ever owned in 30 years of RV ownership
