I just called cruthfield on these.
they said they are designed to keep any water that gets into your car door, off the back of your speaker.
He also reminded me that you still need a hole to get the wire through, but I guess you could seal that with silicone or something.
I need to see what kind of speaker is in there now (but camper is currently covered).
Wonder if putting true marine speakers in now is a good preemptive strike?
