- Majja13ExplorerWow they just keep getting lower and lower. Do manufacturers, I am pretty sure I would tear the front pumper and air damn off that truck in a few places I go elk hunting. I have never owned a lifted truck, neither my 90 Chevy nor my 2000 GMC have issue and they are bone stock. This is a big problem I am having with my deliberation on what truck I want for a new one. I need something with a little height in the front and I don't want to have to spend $$ and waive the warrantee period.
- Need-A-VacationExplorerI had heard GM was planning on restyling the new trucks a little sooner this time around. But the '99's were freshened up for '03 which was only 4 years.

It seems a bit early in the slight redesign of the Silverdo, since the new body style just came out as a 2014. I imagine they want to compete with the aluminum F150.
Or, I'm not alone, not liking the lines and proportions of the current Chevy trucks. I've always driven Chevy trucks but if something happens to mine today, not sure what I'd buy.
I don't think the 2014+ model is a radical change from the 2007-2013 model. Just more squared out wheel openings and a step in the bumpers. It's still a great truck.
As far as a freshening in 3 years, I've come to expect that to be more like after 5 years with the life of a truck design to be around ten years unless it's an ugly and unpopular style. But competition by all manufacturers means more changes and sooner. - kaydeejayExplorer

Despite sharing most of their metal I think the GMCs look much better.

'17 is about right for a "Mid-cycle" enhancement. If they are replacing bolt on metal with aluminum that is not a huge switch.

Ford does a much better job in camouflage, and I doubt GM will make the switch to aluminum this soon. To much re tooling and dealer notifications on repair.
Took Ford 18 months to make the switch along with sagging sales for that period. Aluminum is a big switch be it good or bad.
I'm sure your 06 Dodge is getting a bit tired... Maybe a '17 Chevy could be your next ticket. :W- 45RicochetExplorerFord does a much better job in camouflage, and I doubt GM will make the switch to aluminum this soon. To much re tooling and dealer notifications on repair.
